All About Bouts

The girls in the bridal party get the fancy dresses, extravagant hairdos and sparkly shoes to make them stand out, but what about the guys? Boutonnieres to the rescue. They’re a nice, easy way to add that extra special something to the tuxes.

Many brides opt for a flower in their wedding colors as a way to tie in the bridesmaids’ dresses to the groomsmen, and for the groom a popular choice is a white flower to complement the bride’s gown.

I spoke with Melissa Bonoffski of Stylish Blooms in Bristol, who said, ”Hardier flowers such as calla lilies, roses and orchids are best suited for boutonnieres because they have a wide range of colors and will withstand the hugging.”

For non-floral boutonnieres, Melissa suggested berries, greenery, seashells and grains such as wheat or millet, or even a colorful silk pocket square.
